What benefits can chiropractic offer when you have had a bug?

Bedridden?
If you have been really sick and bedbound, it is easy for any joint to “go out” (aka develop a chiropractic subluxation). It’s like a repetitive strain injury – a slow injury, created by sustained positions. I am sure we have all woken up with a crick in the neck or back after a sleep. This happens more easily when you are inflamed, which is one of the essential ways in which the body gets rid of the bug.
What happens to the spine when an organ is struggling
Sometimes, if an organ is in difficulty, it sends distress signals to your spine and brain. This will often lead to a chiropractic subluxation. This is called a viscero-somatic reflex reaction. In other words, your spine can go out in response to an organ in distress, without an injury. The area in question will be sore and stiff, and often exquisitely tender to touch.
Breathing is important!
The body will compromise literally any other system in order to clear the airways. One way to blow a disc is by sneezing. If you have ever had an intense cough or sneeze, you know how forceful those activities can be, and how much strain goes right through your system. Muscles can get strained, ligaments sprained, the spine can go out, and the diaphragm (the big muscle at the base of the ribcage that breathes us) can get compromised. And as a result, the ribcage might not be able to work optimally, which is going to slow down recovery. The diaphragm is also an integral part of the core musculature, meaning that injuring another part of your body is easier than before.
Long recovery times
These days it seems it can take a while to recover fully – you aren’t sick anymore but you also don’t feel healthy. In that case, the immune system has a hard time finishing the final cleanup. Other than just not feeling well, this often means that you are more susceptible to get unwell again. There are a lot of fabulous remedies and supplements that can help. This is not a one-size-fits-all type of arrangement, because it depends on your particular metabolism, and we are able to advise you on what remedy is best for you.
Benefits of receiving a chiropractic adjustment
Then there is the general benefit of receiving a chiropractic adjustment: taking stress out of the system. Stress is, by definition, anything the body has to adapt to. If the body is busy cleaning up a bug in your system, and it also has erroneous input from a spine that’s out (ie subluxated), this means that it can’t work as efficiently as when your spine is in tip top condition.
Do you know how you feel so much lighter and clearer after a visit? This is because the input to your brain from your body is so much clearer, and the brain can direct your body to stand and move efficiently, which in turn leaves it able to deal with everything else more easily too.
Getting a chiropractic adjustment helps you to breathe easier, recover faster and feel better!
